Abstract
This study was conducted to determine whether different types of homework assignments influenced the acquisition of vocabulary knowledge and understanding and if the students provided with extension homework acquired vocabulary better than those just given the classroom assignments. The study took place in the public high schools in Chavar, Ilam. The participants were 120 high school students. A pre-test was administered to determine the homogeneity of the groups. The mean scores of the groups were 24.5 and 25 out of 50, for the experimental and control groups, respectively, and t-observed (0.41) was much smaller than t-critical (1.67), so they were nearly homogeneous. Both groups were assigned classroom activities that were based on practicing skills covered during the lesson, but the experimental group was assigned extension homework. After two-month period, a post-test was administered to determine if extension homework had an effect on their understanding of the vocabulary. The mean scores for two groups were 34.5 and 30.65 out of 50, for experimental and control groups, respectively. A t-test was used to analyze the data, and it was determined that the students who received extension homework had a better understanding of taught vocabulary than those who received just classroom assignments. The t-observed (9.077) was much larger than t-critical (1.67), so the hypotheses were safely rejected.

Double Colonization in John Maxwell Coetzee’s Disgrace

40-44Full Text

Jamal Nejat* and Leila Baradaran Jamili

Abstract
The concept of double colonization is one of the crucial issues for showing the status of people, and especially women, in colonized societies. The marginalization and subaltern are broad categories that characterize individuals, whose voices and actions have been muted, drastically reinterpreted, lost, or consciously swept away. The South African novelist, John Maxwell Coetzee (1940- ), depicts the situation of people in South Africa during both apartheid and post-apartheid regimes in which colonized people, particularly women, are colonized by colonizers. Coetzee’s Disgrace (1999) shows injustice and marginality coming mainly from imperialism and corrupt system of South Africa. In this paper postcolonial theories of Edward Said (1935-2003), Frantz Fanon (1925-1961), and Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak (1942) are used to analyze people’s condition in countries which experience colonialism and postcolonialism. Women in South Africa are encountered with double colonization and subalternity by both imperial system and male-dominated society. In Disgrace the language of dominance should support oppressive people, characters, and especially women, therefore they are considered as Other and inferior in community.

Abstract
In this research the effect of pretensioning rockbolts on the displacements around tunnels has been evaluated. The rock mass parameters have been taken from Oroush dam tunnel in Turkey that excavated in weathered tuff rocks. In this regard, several tunnels with different diameters were modeled and rockbolts with different sizes were analysed. The tunnels in this research were analysed by Phase2 software and with a two-dimensional plane strain assumption. The obtained results show that by increasing the pretensioning force in rockbolts, the displacements around tunnels decrease until a specific force and then increase again.

Abstract
Rockbolts are support systems which increase the strength properties of rock masses. Nowadays rockbolts are vastly used in underground structures. For this reason a good design of the support system so that it can prepare an acceptable safety, is of great importance. In this paperthe effect spacing and diameter of pretensioningrockbolts on displacements around tunnels has been evaluated. The rock mass parameters have been taken from Oroush dam tunnel in Turkey that excavated in weathered tuff rocks. In this regard, several tunnels with different diameters were modeled and rockbolts with different parameters were analysed. The tunnels in this research were analysed by Phase2 software and with a two-dimensional plane strain assumption. The obtain results show that by increasing spacingof rockbolts, the reduction rate of displacements around the tunnels decreases. Furthermore with decreasing the diameter of rockbolts, the pretensioning effect increases.

Abstract
Objective: Existential psychotherapy is a philosophical approach that deals with the man and his world. This kind of approach is a kind of perspective towards some of the concepts rather than a range of techniques and methods. Present study investigated the effect of the existential approach through group practices on reducing the frustration of disabled SCI. Methods: This is done through an experimental study in which the existential theory tactics were taught to two experimental groups in 10 sessions. Each session lasted for an hour and 30 minutes. In addition, the study used Beck's despair questionnaire to gather the data. Results: Group counseling with existential approach was found to have a significant impact on reducing subscales of despair (despair in achieving the desires, hopelessness about the future, attitudes towards the future, and life outlook) in disabled SCI in the city of Shiraz. However, it didn’t have any effect on the subscale confidence in the future. Conclusions: group counseling with existential approach can be effective in reducing the despair in these people. The mechanism that is influential in reducing the disappointment and despair in disabled SCI is probably in the way this method helps the patients not to concentrate on what they have lost but to search for meaning.

Probabilistic stability analysis of crushed fault zone in the Zaker-Sorkhedizaj tunnel, NW Iran

94-99Full Text

Vahid Hosseinitoudeshki

Abstract
Stability analysis of tunnels is a geotechnical engineering problem characterized by many sources of uncertainty. Therefore, rock characteristics could not be defined by deterministic values and probabilistic methods would be as a suitable alternative. The Zaker-Sorkhedizaj tunnel in NW Iran is a road tunnel to cross the Western Alborz Mountain Range through 530 m in length with 11.2 m span and 8 m height. The final segment of tunnel is composed of porphyry andesites and a strike-slip fault with reverse component has caused the crushed zone with 20-25 m extent and 20 m cover. To use probabilistic analysis, the best fitted distributions to rock mass characteristics were first obtained. Using point estimate method (PEM) method we combine probabilistic input variables such as deformation modulus and intact uniaxial compressive strength, and evaluate the distribution of the output variables such as total displacement. The obtain results show that probabilistic approach, when it is possible to have sufficient data on the quality of the rock mass, leads to a better understanding of the project risks.

Abstract
Imagery and depicting are considered as the literary miracle aspects of Holy Quran. The Holy Quran has showed a dynamic and vivid picture of all phenomena to its audiences' minds using existing phonemes, letters, words, and combinations, and these existing pictures in the verses can be understood by a creative mind and a divine blessing. All images in the Quran possess a criterion the base of which relies on their harmony with the guidance objective of the Quran. To understand these images better, we must consider the words and their literal and spiritual implications, the musical tone of the sentences, and the forms and the shades of the words with the same harmony. One of the most beautiful imagery and depicting in the Holy Quran is manifested in Musabbihat suras (Isra, Hadid, Hashr, Saf, Jumu`ah, Taghabun, and A’la). It should be noted that the unity of thought is dominated on the images of these suras and that while having an individual independency, each of these images has an inner relationship with the other images. This paper considered some parts of the Holy Quran miracles regarding the function of artistic image in the Musabbihat. All creatures' Praising towards God Almighty is clear in the imagery of the Musabbihat suras, and the honor and the wisdom are on the other hand the dominant feature of these images.

Abstract
Some of the suras of the Holy Quran have the same introduction which is known by that name. Seven suras of Musabbihat are considered in this category. In this study, the research question is to find rhetorical aspects used in these suras. In this study, it has been found that branches of figures of speech have used oxymoron, pun, comparison, and allusion more than other rhetorical aspects; with regarding verbal miracle, however, other rhetorical subjects like bright gems persuade the addressee to listen divine word more than before. In all of these suras the word « » تسبیح [praising] and its derivatives, as “Rhetorical Exordium”, familiar the reader about the aims of praising « » تسبیح of Almighty God. The seven Musabbihat suras, like other Quranic suras, ornamented with the best rhetorical words and phrases.
